Crossword Puzzles And Celebrity Status

In my post on ten questions one question and answer was:
3. Would you enjoy being a very rich and famous celebrity?

No. I am already a celebrity of sorts without being rich!

That caused some merriment to some friends, one of who wanted to know what makes me think that I am already a celebrity of sorts.

Here is my answer Ramesh.

That fabulous looking lady in the article is my sister and fellow crossword puzzle addict Padmini who my readers will know as Padmum.

RR, your sister is certainly beautiful 🙂
Nice to know you are a fellow crossword afficiaonado. Padmini says it right when she describes the unsettling itch till you’ve solved every single clue. I especially love cryptics. I simply HAD to solve the Times Cryptic every morning before breakfast every day, and was very upset when it was moved to the Economic Times (my reason for buying the ET thenceforth). There were times when I didn’t have time to solve it in the morning, so I’d save the weekday crossword and solve all six on the weekend. I’ve created a few crosswords for contests too.You should join Cryptic Crossword Society on FB, you might like it because there are plenty of others like us. Though there is nothing to match the pleasure of solving a newspaper crossword with your morning cup of coffee 🙂

Well, I am “word” player as such but rather than pen/paper I have “tiles of letters” to put together on a board that has some coloured squares. I used to play with “hard/real stuff” but I now play on the computer. I do use an on-line helpmate but rather I get a thrill at “set-ups” either for me or someone else. And of course getting interesting – both short/long words to fit…

I wouldn’t call it brain working rather how well I can fit in with another player/s, some of which are plain stupid! Or I believe they know the operative way but choose to fool about…I cannot see them, nor do I know where they are in world 🙂

(sometimes, I play their way but I find it weird…and “much harder as such”)

I also play other types of games which are like “match 3” which is again nutting out how to “hit/lose” the 3 needed…thereby clearing the “game board”

This is easy leisure because I spend a great deal of the year solving riddles through essay writing 🙂

Uncleji, who says celebrity need to be with some special features… you are a celebrity… Rameshji dont worry for few celebrities you need not think that Celebrities are “not approachable”. Ramana uncleji is approachable as you must be aware 🙂 now

The concept of “celebrity” has just been raised a few notches.

  7. Max Coutinho says:

    Hi Rummy,

Yes, you are a celebrity in my book.
I wouldn’t want to be a celeb either: too much of a distraction (to oneself) and too much work (always worried with one’s image, clothes, hair, make-up, what to say, what not to say, fake smiles, paparazzi etc).

I prefer to be low key…

    Have a great weekend.
