“There are, it seems, two muses: the Muse of Inspiration, who gives us inarticulate visions and desires, and the Muse of Realization, who returns again and again to say “It is yet more difficult than you thought.” This is the muse of form. It may be then that form serves us best when it works as an obstruction, to baffle us and deflect our intended course. It may be that when we no longer know what to do, we have come to our real work and when we no longer know which way to go, we have begun our real journey. The mind that is not baffled is not employed. The impeded stream is the one that sings.”

My muse of inspiration keeps her own counsel. The muse of realization is my torment.

“The mind that is not baffled is not employed.” Absolutely. The motto of pedantic intellectuals (like myself) everywhere.

You caught that one neatly Nick. The bed rock of creativity!
By now I have sense enough to know that it’s a lot easier to think of things than to do them. The trick is to break them down into manageable chunks and enjoy the process of learning. At the moment it’s Photoshop as a spiritual practice.

That’s why I’m focusing on learning to create in Photoshop rather than worrying about what isn’t happening up on the land. Can’t say I haven’t learned from experience.
So what else is new? http://stresstopower.com/blog/2012/05/03/imminent/

I suppose that I will eventually get around to that, I do have a copy of Photoshop for dummies which is gathering dust.

Photo shop as a spiritual practice will make old Lao Tzu very happy.
Fascinating. Am I baffled? Yes. But I like to imagine that I am not.

And the minute that you imagine, your juices flow!
I’m with Jody; I pretend everything is going along smoothly … no confusion here.
