“The interpretation of dreams is the royal road to a knowledge of the unconscious activities of the mind.”
~ Sigmund Freud
I really should not be writing this post. I do dream but except very rarely, cannot remember what I dreamt.
No, I am not being facetious. This is the truth.
I have nightmares too. These too wake me up but I cannot remember what the nightmares were about.
But I am human. I day dream a lot, mostly about food! And those are easily fulfilled.
I wonder what Sigmund Freud will make of this. Perhaps he will conclude that I am just a nutcase.
I think that my brain needs to be studied by Vilayanur S. Ramachandran. May be I will become famous for being so blessed.
I hope you enjoyed reading this post on the weekly Friday Loose Bloggers Consortium where thirteen of us write on the same topic. Today’s topic has been chosen by Maria The Sivler Fox. The twelve other bloggers who write regularly are, in alphabetical order, Anu, Delirious, gaelikaa, Grannymar, Maxi, Maria SF, ocdwriter, Padmum, Paul, Rohit, Shackman, The Old Fossil and Will. Do drop in on their blogs and see what their take is on this week’s topic. Since some of them may post late, do give some allowance for that too!

As you’ve said before you’ve taken life as it comes rather than having dreams you’ve worked to fulfill. On the whole, with the exception of the interlude with your father, it seems to have worked well for you.

You too are blessed!
Had a weird dream a couple of hours ago. I was in my uncle’s house in Dublin. My dad’s younger brother’s house. We were celebrating the birthday of his son, about five years younger than me. Then someone noticed that the birthday cake was missing. Someone had stolen it. Afterwards I noticed that my arm had been bleeding, but the blood had clotted and dried. Then I woke up.
Have you ever heard such nonsense in all your life?

To you dear, anything is possible. I can indeed confirm that I have not heard such nonsense in my life. But, dreams are supposed to be exactly that.
What a day for a daydream – custom made for a daydreaming boy….
Seems we are very similar in many ways.

That is something that has occurred to me a number of times Shackman.
Before you go to sleep warm up first some studies found that before sleeping let your body to keep warm, such as bubble a hot bath, can easily make you sleep soundly.
I don’t think I sleep long enough to dream.

You too should be of interest to Ramachandran.

What happens between the first and the second sleep is what interests me!
Maybe you just sleep very soundly. I think I don’t, so I dream every night, and I really have some doosies some times.

Yes, my late wife always complained that I snored!
I also tend to forget my dreams and nightmares. A pity, as they might have been quite interesting. They might even have predicted the future or given me the name of the winning horse in the 2.30.

There is hope yet for you Nick. Everyday there is the 2.30.
I used to daydream alot. Somewhere along the line I gave it up and I don’t know why. Although when I think about it, I have what I want (and eat more than I need) so I don’t have to dream it up. No escape necessary. I loved it when I did it, though.

When we have plenty of things to do, like you do, where is the time to day dream?
Few dreams – while sleeping – used to, but not these days. Though some nocturnal musing. Doubt it ever comes to much – would be better of simply sleeping.

I am told on excellent authority that I don’t know how lucky I am that I can sleep!
