Those of my readers who missed Conrad’s update on his whine bar, I strongly recommend a visit for some boost.  I also refer to his post on telephones, which has something to do with this post.

I have come across something incredibly true and which appeals to me for its honesty and simplicity, besides its humorous presentation.  I urge you to see this.

Does it resonate with you like it does with me?

We still have a rotary phone, with a touch tone extension. We do own a cell phone, but almost never use it. My husband takes it up to the land every day just in case something happens and he needs me to give him a ride home.

A girl knocked on my door once and asked if she could use our phone to call her mother. I said sure and gestured towards our rotary phone on the wall. She hesitated and I asked her if she knew how to use it. No. So I dialed the number for her. ;)

What a story. I am not surprised however.

Those links brought back memories and smiles to my face.

My paternal grandfather was a Postmaster in the west of Ireland and my grandmother looked after the cranking telephone system.

We had a heavy rotary phone that had a fixed position inside our front door. Very few of our neighbours had phones and they came to us to make calls.

Ramana, that YouTube video was fun and all the more so as the guy looked just like one of my Irish blogging friends!

Now you KNOW that resonated with me! That was great! My wife is taking the address of the video to work to show it to everyone.

What tickled me was that he thought the rotary phones were so primitive. We went to Grandma and Grandpa’s and thought we were really uptown, because they HAD a rotary phone.

Thanks for leading me to that great piece.
