I Think My Dancing School Diploma Just Expired.

I don’t think that Lin knows enough about me as otherwise, she may not have suggested this topic for the weekly LBC post that she, Shackman write every Friday and some others occasionally do.

I was still dancing gentle two steps etc and the occasional hop or swing to celebrate something or the other till the end of the last century.

End of year 2000 and beginning of year 2001 saw both my already replaced hip joints being revised. Since then I have had to be careful with them and so all funny business has stopped and now that one of them has been re-revised that is, revised the second time, I am doubly careful.

So, yes, my dancing school diploma expired a long time ago.

It has been so long since I danced I cannot remember it. But I do have tales of my time in a Polynesian dance troupe – that was some serious fun.

“I was still dancing gentle two steps etc” … I’m still laughing … ‘The Raj’ has a lot to answer for. … 🙂

i’m thinking you cut a rug in your day sean.
    a very smooth rug.
i have always loved the line… “dance as if nobody is watching”
    and that i do.
i even dance right here in my chair at the computer thanks to that video clip you sent to me that i kept. it’s wonderful!
i would love to be part of a flash mob someday.

Two step hop and swing? Those are binary dances- one two, one two. Although waltz has always bothered me, as it seems to require a third leg. Actually, my significant other and I decided long ago the only way to really dance is plant our feet and wrap up and sway. It saves counting. But that is because he knows the things I wrote about dancing at Dunnasead.co. Ps did you know there are ballroom two-step courses for man and best friend? Wonder what Chutki would think about that?

    • No, I did not, but it does not surprise me. Even with Chutki, I am afraid that I simply will not be able to do a two step anymore, so going to a class to learn it will be a waste.

My dancing now takes place in a chair where I sway a bit and move my arms. 🙂

Don’t know much about dancing, but I thought diplomas stayed with you even after you entered the grave.

I used to go regularly to dance parties, with the booze but not the drugs…but then I got majorly sick and that put paid to that. Occasionally I will hear some music and start personally “jiving” to it – actually I find it excellent exercise…and fun as well.

    • In my youth, I too have been to many BYOB (Bring Your Own Booze) dance parties but never got sick. My dancing is now mostly while sitting when some music is played somewhere.

I seldom go to parties these days so my dancing is confined to the kitchen when I’m cooking something and listening to a CD. And in the privacy of my kitchen I don’t have to worry about all these youngsters tut-tutting and saying oldies shouldn’t be dancing, it’s embarrassing.

I love dancing always have. I never formally danced well (tapdance, ballet, Irish) but loved all the rock n roll ones, the waltzes, the polkas, the twist, etc.

Body creaky now. But still at it.

    Hi Rummy,

I am a dancer lover. I love to dance and I love to watch others dancing: the ability to move the body to the sound of just about anything is one of the greatest human attributes. Seriously. If I close my eyes, I can picture you giving precise steps in the greatest dance hall of all times: life :).

    Cheers, my friend
