Life Is Like A Roll Of Toilet Paper.

“I’ve learned …. That life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.”

~ Andy Rooney.

It is not going fast enough for me.  Is it for you?

  1. There are days that I wish the roll was empty already.

  2. I love my life right now and the time goes zipping by. As I’ve already said, I keep telling Andy don’t mess it up by letting anything happen to him. I agree with the sentiment, treasure the happy times, they act as cushions when life gets tough.

I think whether life is going too fast or too slow very much depends on your state of mental and physical health. If they’re okay, you probably want to keep on living for a while. If they’re crumbling, you might want to be gone as soon as possible. At the moment my health is fine, so a few more years, however fast or slow, will do me nicely.

  6. On my last Birthday I was sure I was only 67, then one of my Granddaughters told me I was in fact 69!!! Life is going far too fast for me. Some days are very painful, & not very mobile, but other days are better & I am glad to be alive. Today I made the effort to take the camera out into the forest to make another video. I am glad I did, thoroughly enjoyed it & am left with the feeling that I have accomplished something.
    Regards, Keith.

    • You have some catching up to do with me Keith. I am now content to solve crossword puzzles, read a few books and watch the odd movie. The kind of active life that you lead and your interests are for younger people!

While I am (only) 65, life is going by too quickly. I’d like for it to slow down. Maybe I just need to stop working again. 😉

  8. The only time life goes slowly these days, is when I’m waiting for the kettle to boil. The rest of the time, it’s speeding by!

And like many people my age even with early rising my days seem just to have begun and it’s time for bed.

I think the trick is to mix the quiet days with the busy ones – although for me they all seem to whizz by too quickly!

  10. today on a bus, the woman in the opposite seat – one of 2 by 2 that you end up playing kneesies with…said “how can you have a gold bus pass?” I couldn’t understood what she meant so she said “you don’t look old enough…” I replied “oh that, everyone tells me that, I’ve had a while now….”

Our experience of time is relative to how accustomed we are to our routine. When we go on holiday and experience something out of our routine, time seems slower. For many, if not all of us, we feel a year passes by quicker and quicker with each year gone by. That’s because we are doing the same thing over and over again. It’s because of the accumulated years of the same routine that times feels quicker as we get older. Experience just like a roll of toilet paper.
