Raksha Bandhan.

Today is Raksha Bandhan.

I have two sisters. One a direct sibling and one a Rakhi sister. The later, not a natural sibling but one who has made me a brother to her by the symbolic tying of the rakhi. This symbolic relationship is as strong as the natural one and often stronger.

My Rakhi sister lives in Lucknow and took sufficient pains to courier me a rakhi to reach me on time. I received it yesterday and with due ceremony and prayers I tied it around my wrist today.  I will send a link of this post to her to assure her that I have tied it on.

2013-08-20 19.36.18My natural sister rang me up this morning from the other end of the country’s South, Chennai to wish me and to take my assurance that her gift gets added to my earlier IOUs on the same account.  I shall settle accounts when we meet next.

Thank heavens for sisters.
